In the midst of the COVID19 pandemic and in order to adapt ventilation in class, I have built a WiFi connected CO₂ sensor that allows real time [CO₂] monitoring in the rooms where I teach. The sensor is adapted from the plans offered by the Boîte à Formes 3D printing company.

Students and myself can thus keep an eye on [CO₂] (either via a smartphone or projected onto a screen) which in turn allows us to adapt door and window opening as required to air the room when mechanical ventilation is inadequate or occupancy too high. The Ministry of Research and Higher Education states that indoor air on campus should be kept below 800 ppm :

In situ [CO₂] monitoring (Dec 21 and Jan 22) in the following figure show that in many instances on our campus we must open doors and windows continuously during class in order to stay within safer air quality limits :
